Angular Frequency and Period (ω = 2π/T = 2πν)
jee-mainjee-advancedneet-ug
ω = 2π/T = 2πν
What each symbol means
| Symbol | What it stands for |
|---|---|
| T | Time period — time for one complete oscillation (s) |
| ν | Frequency — number of oscillations per second (Hz = s⁻¹) |
| ω | Angular frequency (rad/s) |
When to use this
Fundamental relations connecting ω, T, and ν. T = 1/ν. In SHM, T and ν depend on system parameters (spring constant, length, etc.) but NOT on amplitude. This is a hallmark of SHM. NCERT Eq. 13.7.
